16/8/2010 Amman – Coinciding with the preparation for the parliamentary elections, Alaa Ensheiwat, Chief Executive Officer of SSS Process, the Jordanian company specialized in providing e-government services and software solutions, called on candidates to take advantage of technology in their election campaigns.
Ensheiwat illustrated the importance of modern technology such as social networks, websites, emails and mobile messages (SMS) in achieving the campaigns’ desired objectives, as they are the fastest ways to spread information to a vast number of people.
According to the proceeding, he forecasted a decline in the traditional media campaigns represented by posters and large banners saying: “Unlike the restrictions of time and space in traditional campaigns, the internet can be a valuable resource for every candidate because of its accessibility and portability”.
He added: “Beside emails and social networks, every candidate must establish his or her own web page on the internet, in which the candidate can post his or her programs and ideas to share with voters and stay in consistent touch with them”.
He also emphasized the urgent need for addressing youth throughout these campaigns saying: “His majesty King Abdullah and the successive Jordanian governments have always sought to engage youth in the political process. Young people are so attached to the Internet and they like to discuss their ideas through it”.
It is worth mentioning that registration for the upcoming parliamentary elections witnesses a large turnout from young Jordanians, who represent the majority of the society.
