Jakarta, Indonesia and Abu Dhabi, UAE – Pearl Energy (Pearl), a subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company, announced today a donation of over US$100,000 for disaster relief assistance for those affected by the September 30th earthquake that shook South Sumatra, an area near the company’s operations.
The Indonesian-based staff of 90 employees have raised US$5,000 which Pearl has matched with another US$5,000. Combined with a donation from Mubadala of US$100,000, the Indonesian Red Cross (Palang Merah Indonesia or PMI) has received US$110,000 in total to help provide food, shelter, counseling and other assistance to the victims of this disaster. PMI is also managing long-term recovery programs since the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
“The damage from the earthquake has been devastating to the residents of South Sumatra, particularly in Padang,” said Andrew Duncan, President of Pearl Oil (Tungkal) Ltd. “Hundreds of people have been without power and many homes have sustained serious damage. We hope our contribution will make a meaningful difference to our neighbors in nearby communities.”

We hope that this donation will help to restore people’s daily lives and rebuild the affected areas.”
