AMMAN— New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) – Jordan Branch has for the first time celebrated the graduation of its students at the mother university in New York City.
NYIT Executive Chairman in the Middle East Dr. Mohamed Hussein said NYIT Jordan is proud that Jordanian students and their families took part in the grand celebration among 4,500 students from the university’s branches around the world.
“The Jordanian participation in the academic occasion had a special flavor because it was the first time students from the Jordan branch take part in the event”.
Dr. Hussein underlined the leading role played by the university and its continued efforts to advance education in Jordan and supply the community with highly qualified graduates.
He pointed out the special accreditation the university’s programs in Jordan have acquired in all the specializations it teaches to its approximately 1,000 students. He indicated that NYIT has plans to introduce new programs designed to meet labor market demands.
Dr. Hussein said the university is simultaneously keen to train university personnel and faculty on the latest teaching methodology and techniques applied by the world’s best universities and other educational institutions.
The executive chairman added: “The university seeks to become a very special university in the Middle East. This is being done through embracing modern concepts aimed at preparing generations in the region to meet the present and future needs of this part of the world and contribute to the development of their local communities”.
Dr. Hussein added that such orientation corresponds to the strategic plan of the university designed to advance higher education and make certain it is consistent with the requirements of modernity.
Extending congratulations to the graduates and their families, he said: Allow me to congratulate in your name all graduates here and in Arab and foreign countries who completed their studies at NYIT campuses around the world.
NYIT, a non-profit university, has had a presence in Jordan since 2001 under an academic agreement with the Jordan University of Science and Technology. NYIT offers Undergraduate and Graduate programs. NYIT seeks to match between the outcome of education and requirements of the labor market. It supports scientific research and at the Middle East level through ensuring researchers access to specialized conferences, periodicals and international publishers.
The university also works to open channels of communication between its students the mother university by providing students the opportunity to study certain courses at the university and has in place exchange programs involving teaching staff in all NYIT branches in the world.
